For over 5000 years, a certain type of tree is cultivated which contains oil within its fruits. This was called the “Acebuche,” the wild olive shrub, which was the original name of the olive tree. When the Romans conquered the Mediterranean area 2100 years ago, they discovered that certain areas of Spain had the most abundant amount of this wild olive tree, which later became known as “Oliva.”
